TikTok Star Beandri Booysen Dies at 19 from Rare Aging Disease
Beandri Booysen, a beloved TikTok personality and advocate, has sadly passed away at the age of 19.

Known for her inspirational journey and vibrant personality, Beandri was the last known individual in South Africa living with progeria, a rare genetic condition that causes premature aging in children.
Family Statement
Beandri’s mother, Bea Booysen, announced the heartbreaking news on Facebook on December 18.

The post included a black-and-white photo of Beandri, accompanied by her birth and death dates.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Beandri Booysen, one of South Africa’s most beloved and inspiring young women,” the statement read.
Beandri’s legacy was marked by her courage and positivity. Despite living with a condition that posed significant challenges, she became a symbol of hope and resilience for thousands of followers around the world.
The family’s statement concluded:
“The Booysen family kindly requests privacy during this profoundly difficult time as they mourn the loss of their beloved Beandri. Further details regarding the memorial service will be shared in due course.”
What Is Progeria?
According to the Cleveland Clinic, progeria, or Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome, is caused by a tiny genetic mutation in DNA. This condition leads to accelerated aging, with most individuals succumbing to heart disease or stroke by their teenage years.
The Progeria Research Foundation estimates that approximately 400 children are living with this condition worldwide.

Beandri had amassed over 279,000 followers on TikTok, where she documented her journey and spread awareness about progeria. Her videos resonated deeply, inspiring people to embrace life’s challenges with strength and grace.
Following her passing, a tribute video posted on her TikTok account drew an outpouring of support.
