Netflix’s New Christmas Thriller ‘Carry On’ Is Being Called Better Than Die Hard
Netflix’s latest Christmas thriller, Carry On, is creating a buzz among viewers, with many claiming it surpasses the action classic Die Hard.

A Gripping Christmas Thriller
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Carry On stars Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman in a high-stakes story about a mysterious traveller (Bateman) who blackmails a young TSA agent, Ethan Kopek (Egerton), into letting a dangerous package slip through security on Christmas Eve. The movie is set in an airport, where the consequences of the package being on the flight could be catastrophic.
Also starring Sofia Carson as Nora Parisi, Ethan’s girlfriend, and Danielle Deadwyler as Elena Cole, the movie features a talented ensemble cast, including Logan Marshall-Green as Agent Alcott.
Viewers Are Loving It
Since its release, Carry On has received rave reviews, earning an impressive 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes. On social media, fans are praising the movie’s suspenseful thrills, with some going so far as to call it better than Die Hard.
One viewer shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Carry On does ‘Die Hard in an airport’ better than the actual Die Hard in an airport.” Another wrote, “Watched the new Netflix movie Carry On tonight. It’s like Die Hard but much better and genuinely a Christmas movie unlike the actual Die Hard.”

Director’s Vision
Director Jaume Collet-Serra acknowledged Die Hard’s influence on the film, telling the BBC, “Everyone wants to make the next Die Hard, and the reality is that no one ever will – it’s a perfect movie that can’t be replicated.” He emphasized that Carry On is a more grounded take, intended for a new generation, while still honoring the classic action movie.
Much like Bruce Willis’ character in Die Hard, Egerton’s Ethan Kopek is an ordinary person caught up in extraordinary circumstances, balancing work and life-threatening danger.
