Christy Carlson Romano, the beloved Disney star known for voicing Kim Possible, has a wild and shocking shotgun story to share. In a terrifying real-life moment, Romano was shot in the face during a clay pigeon shooting session, a day that started out as a birthday celebration for her husband. But instead of a fun day of shooting targets, Romano ended up in the hospital, leaving her grateful to be alive. Let’s take a look at what happened and how she’s recovering.

A Birthday Surprise Gone Wrong

On February 8th, Romano took her husband, Brendan Rooney, to a clay pigeon shooting range to celebrate his birthday. The couple was joined by another group at the range, and what should have been a fun outdoor activity turned into a nightmare.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Romano explained how things went horribly wrong: “There was another party with us and they unsafely fired in the wrong direction and shotgun me in the face.” Romano was hit in multiple places by pellets from the shotgun, with one shot narrowly missing her eye.

Romano shared that her husband, who immediately acted in the emergency situation, quickly assessed her injuries and rushed her to the hospital for medical attention. It was a close call, as one of the pellets was less than an inch from hitting her right eye. Romano explained, “I was hit in 5 places, one was less than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye.”

A Frightening Injury

Though Romano was in immediate pain and fear for her life, her condition could have been much worse. One of the fragments from the shotgun pellets became lodged behind her eye, but doctors have decided against removing it surgically, as it is too risky. Fortunately, Romano’s vision remains unaffected for now, and she can still see normally.

In a video she uploaded to Instagram, Romano explained the situation further: “I got shotgun in the eye; it was not fun,” she said while pointing to the affected areas on her face. Despite the severity of the incident, she remains upbeat, expressing gratitude for her safety. “I am safe. I got shot here [points to below her eye], it is still inside [points to the back of her eye], there’s a fragment there,” she said. She also shared how thankful she was for the first responders who helped her during such a scary time.

Life can change in an instant.”

Her close call has made her reflect on how fragile life can be and how quickly things can change. Despite the shotgun pain and trauma she’s experienced, Romano has remained positive and focused on the love and support of her family. “Be grateful for every day,” she concluded, reminding her fans to appreciate the moments that matter most.
