A Heartbreaking Chain of Events

The tragedy occurred at around 4:00 PM on Thursday, December 19, following a holiday performance at the preschool.

According to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, a parent had just finished loading her children into a vehicle when “for whatever reason, [she] accelerated into the building, into another car.”

This impact created a domino effect:

“She, in turn, pushed that other car, and then both cars ended up hitting a fence where, on the other side, several children and a faculty member were playing,” Salazar explained during a news conference.

Rosales was tragically pinned under one of the vehicles for some time. Despite the swift response of emergency teams, who used hydraulic lifts to free her, the beloved teacher was pronounced dead at the scene.

Children and Staff Injured

At least five children and one additional staff member sustained injuries:

  • Three children were hospitalized and later released.
  • Additional individuals received treatment at the scene or declined transport.

The driver responsible for the crash was unharmed. Sheriff Salazar noted that the driver’s medical history may have played a role but emphasized that there was no evidence of intoxication or criminal intent.

“At this point, it appears to be just a very tragic accident,” he said.
